China and the Changing World

PDF Print

The world is growing increasingly smaller. People are competing on a global level. With the onslaught of social networking options and readily available Internet access, people are not only connected with their friends and colleagues down the street, but with their compatriots a world away.

Because technology is offering us an opportunity to connect with those around us, we would be foolish to ignore the opportunity to engage. The world is offering us and our children better circumstances than those available in the US. While this country is a shining example of democracy in action, we neglect the rest of the world at our peril.

Competition in a global economy is stiff, not only for those of us who are active in business now, but for our children who are learning how to navigate the new world of a truly international marketplace. The fluidity of the world's economy, the rise of democratic movements and the opening of markets and cultures once thought closed bring us all closer. With that closeness comes understanding, but it also brings competition.

Whether it is creating business opportunities with countries that are ascending in global competition or offering our children the ability to spread their wings and learn in other cultures, the acceptance of living and creating in a global world is of paramount importance. By embracing the inevitable change, we can move forward.
