Volberding Files Two Family Law Appeals Due To Unfair Rulings

A fifty-eight year-old teacher, who had been married for 35 years, lost her house and most of her life savings in her divorce due to mistakes made by her divorce attorney. Tyler, Texas family law attorney James W. Volberding filed an aggressive brief in the Tyler Court of Appeals explaining in the restricted appeal that the 15% of community property she received was grossly disproportionate to the husband's 85%. The appeal is pending.
Meanwhile, a Smith County jury recognized that a Tyler father, age 38, would take fine care of his two young children and gave him the exclusive right to decide their primary residence. Though the divorce judge ordered identical joint custody, she also ordered the father to pay the mother a stunning $1,200 per month in child support, even though he was already supporting the children. Mr. Volberding challenged the child support order with an appeal to the Tyler Court Appeals, which is currently pending.
